ENG TREPRENEUR is thrilled to announce that our founder, Ada Nwadigo, has been named the National and Regional Winner of the prestigious ICE STEM Ambassador of the Year Award 2024. The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) recognized 12 exceptional STEM ambassadors for their extraordinary dedication to inspiring future generations through civil engineering, and Ada’s impact stood out among them.
Her commitment to outreach and education has left an indelible mark, sparking curiosity and interest in civil engineering among young people across various platforms, including schools, national events, social media, and her work with the ENG TREPRENEUR platform.
ICE judges praised Ada’s innovative and diverse approaches, noting, “She is an inspirational speaker who reaches audiences both locally and nationally, whether in schools or through her engaging presence on social media and podcasts. Ada’s dedication and creative outreach efforts have had a tangible impact on the young people she engages with, positioning her as a compelling role model in civil engineering.”
Séan Harris, ICE’s Deputy Director General, remarked, “Ada Nwadigo’s unyielding commitment to inspiring future generations in civil and infrastructure engineering is nothing short of remarkable. Her initiatives, like ENG TREPRENEUR, have significantly contributed to connecting young minds to the world of engineering and breaking down barriers for more diverse representation in STEM fields.”
For Ada, the mission of becoming a STEM ambassador was deeply personal. Reflecting on her journey, she shared, “My path to becoming an engineer was paved with the support of role models in my family. But I know not every aspiring young engineer has that kind of guidance. Many children dream of building bridges or designing tomorrow’s infrastructure but lack role models to inspire them and show that these dreams are possible.”
Through her ambassadorial work and ENG TREPRENEUR, Ada is determined to fill that gap. “It’s about more than sharing my story,” she said. “It’s about breaking down stereotypes, showing there isn’t one ‘right’ way into this field, and giving young people the belief that they, too, can transform the world through engineering.”
Her award highlights not just her achievements but also her vision for ENG TREPRENEUR as a driving force for change, mentorship, and empowerment in civil engineering and STEM.
